AOF Students Score Big
at Financial Football!
On February 3, 2024, five of our dedicated AOF students—Robert Smith, Youssef Eldermiri, Mason LaBlance, David Gonzales, and Co-President Sama Fattah—helped lead our academy to a 2nd place finish at the annual Financial Football competition! While Sama didn’t compete in the event, her leadership as co-president and her hands-on involvement in preparing the team were instrumental in their success.
Competing against strong teams from across the district, including the reigning champions from Armwood High School, our team showcased impressive financial knowledge, critical thinking, and teamwork.
After placing 3rd last year, this jump to 2nd marks a major accomplishment—and we’re determined to secure 1st place next year. We’re incredibly proud of the team’s effort and Sama’s support throughout the preparation process!

USF Accounting Day
On April 3, 2025, students from our AOF program, along with peers from Jefferson and Brandon High Schools, participated in the Accounting Preview Day at the University of South Florida. The day began with a valuable panel discussion featuring USF students, who shared insights into their academic journeys and experiences in the business field.
Following the panel, we had the opportunity to tour the campus, including the prestigious Muma College of Business. This experience allowed us to explore the resources and opportunities available for students pursuing a career in accounting and business. We left feeling inspired and excited about the potential paths ahead in our academic and professional careers.

Behind the Vault: AOF at the OCC!

On February 11, 2025, six of our AOF students—Sama Fattah, Sadan Fattah, Celine Alarcon, Darshan [last name], Johnny [last name], and David Gonzales—joined students from Jefferson High School for an exclusive visit to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). With only nine spots available, our students proudly filled six, making a strong showing for our academy.
The visit offered a behind-the-scenes look at the OCC’s operations and gave students the chance to learn about financial regulation, federal banking systems, and career opportunities in government finance. It was a rare and enriching experience that expanded our students’ understanding of the financial sector.
